|

Hi!
Is there a fair scope with an objective of 100mm or so below or around $500? Or would I be better of to spen my money on a smaller scope and get better quality for the bucks?
I something fieldworthy to be used under low light conditions (far up north).

Hi
ALWAYS go for optical quality. Just going with a larger objective is no guarantee of better preformance. A poor objective, regardless of size, always results in poor optics. There is also a serious issue of size and portability with any 100mm scope, not to mention the need for a larger and more expensive tripod. For any spotting scope application, short of astronomy, 80mm is plenty. _________________ Thanks for posting with us

Hi and thanks for taking your time answering my questions.
If I, regardless of your advices, would like to consider a something around 100mm - are there any decent alternatives within $500?????

Hi
Not in my opinion. I would still take a better 80mm to bigger 100m scope. I don't think trading quality for a larger objective is going to get you anywhere in terms of performance.
If you want the big stuff, try the Ultima 100, the Konuspot 100 or the Zhumell. I think you will get better otpics by spending the same amount of money on an 80mm scope, but go for one of these if you want a big scope. I don't regard one to be necessarily better than another. _________________ Thanks for posting with us
