I need a scope for birding, wiflife watch and nature-viewing with good brightness and crisp images.

I expect decent image quality even at 45-60x zoom levels.

Can i get a scope under $500, which would maintain decent image quality through out its zoom range.

Hi

All spotting scopes, with the excpetion of premiere and very expensive models, lose image quality as you zoom up in magnification. No scope at $500 will be as sharp at 60x as it is as 20x. That's a given. There is also the atmosphere to consider and no scope, even the most expensive, will provide sharp images at 60x when the atmosphere is not cooperating.

The best scopes I have tested at this price point are the Vortex Skyine and Alpen 788.
