1st of all thank for the previous tips - I went for that Vortex Skyline ED spotting scope.
The scope is on it's way, but I totally forgot about it needing a good stand Smile

What would you suggest?
I see you people here at optics planet.com offer wide range of tripods/stands. As you know I'm an archer and I'll be needing a stand that can keep the scope steady at up to 60''.

The Vortex Radian GT PRO seems like a good buy, any suggestions or comments about that one or any similar?
Or is the Summit STX pro worth the extra $80?

Hi

That's great. You'll love the Vortex.

A must for a good spotting scope is a good tripod.

First and foremost, I would never put a good scope on a tripod with a plastic head. Metal is a must. I can tell you horror stories about a plastic head that cracked with a good scope aboard. Not pretty. The GT Pro is a metal head, so no problem on this point.

Next is stability and the bigger the scope, the more important this becomes. For 80mm scopes, I usually move right up to a Bogen kit. Bogen is the world standard for good spotting scope tripods. Bogen kits (be sure to order a kit) start at $200 plus. Well worth it, though, for a good scope. If you can't afford the Bogen, you can get by with something a little less stable, the GT Pro being one or the Burris for another. Still decent tripods. Anything less, though, and you will regret it.

Ok thanks. Could you tell me about this free UPS thing. I presume that doesn't work with overseas orders? Do you have any idea how much would an average USPS airparcel post cost for overseas to Bosnia and how do you calculate USPS - is there a percentage off the shipping price since you offer completely free shipping in the continental us?
Currently, we're talking about this Bogen thing you advized me.

BTW Jne_K what about that - Vortex Summit STX Tripod. It's roughly priced between the GT Pro and that Bogen.
I kinda like that it has that hook to add weight if needed.

What do you think>
