I want mid priced hunting binos. had a pair of compact nikon, wonderful glass but want full sized 8x40 o 10x40-42, that kind of magnification
I have seen the offer for rebate on the Bushnell Infinity, however this bino does not have rainguard. Should I go for this one as apparent superior glass or stick to the legends?
(after rebate price would be the same, i was wondering about better glass on the Infinity soince they are more expensive at baseline)
Thanks!
any other optiions

Hi

To begin, don't worry about Rainguard - it is not important enough a feature to use as a decision to buy. The Infinity is the better binocular, as the selling price, before rebate, indicates, though the difference is going to more a difference in body style and handling than optics. If you want a significant step up in optics, go up to the Elite E2 or a Leupold Pinnacles.

hi Jane, thanks for the response.
i was wondering if the Nikon Monarchs are at the same level.
And how do the infinities compare to the Swift audubon roof, i read good things about it in another post.
Magnification looks about the same, as well as FOV, weight and eye relief.
Do you think they are at the same level?
With the rebate it seems that the infinity is the best thing that can be had for under 300$ or Im wrong and there are more options.
Do you think 10.5 is too much mag for hunting and hauling?

Thanks!

Hi

Not going to go wrong with any $300 bino these days - all going to be good buys due to the competition. Yes, I persoanlly like the Swift 828, but that's me. Thousands of Monarch owners will tell you the Nikon Monarch is a great $300 bino and I couldn't argue with them.

Your choice of magnification is as much a persoanl preference as it is a performance preference. I prefer 8s, but also have 10s. Lot of open country hunters like 10x, though.
