Carson 20-80x50mm Aim Telescope

I got one of these telescopes for my son who turns 7 next month. It was a "perk" from my employer. Is this a good starter telescope for a little boy who really loves astronomy?

Of course, the lack of expense to myself was a good thing, but I'd like for him to have a good experience with his first telescope.

Hi

A 50mm scope, because of its size, is basically a toy, so you need to decide if that is appropriate for him. If you do decide to move up to a more serious telescope (larger telescope), though, you need to supply a little help and supervision. He'll get more out of it if you both do it, together.
