Bushnell StealthView problem

I purchased a Bushnell StealthView from OpticsPlanet last August. I'm really pleased with the performance, design, and construction, but I'm having a problem with the IR illuminator. I have used the scope infrequently and it's been several months since its last use. Now that the wildlife is more active (and I'm more comfortable) I attempted to use the scope last night. I inserted fresh batteries and everything is functioning correctly except the Super IR illuminator. Pressing the IR button seems to have no effect. There's no damage to the unit or corrosion that I can see. It's been stored indoors on a closet shelf in its case. I plugged in a 12vDC power supply with the same results. Is there any troubleshooting I might be able to do before sending it into Bushnell for a warranty repair? Has anyone else had a similar problem?

The most common situation is when you use the IR with any ambient light. The IR will not be noticeable unless conditions are very dark. Try it in a closed room and I would not be surprised if you find that it works fine. These are very good units and we haven't had problems with them.

When I used the scope last time, I remember the IR light making such a dramatic difference that I used it most of the time. Last night I was using the scope before the moon was up, outside. I live in the country and it was very dark. As part of my first troubleshooting, I took the scope into the house and plugged it into the external power supply (removing the battery pack). The only light in the room was from a pair of small LED's. No difference when I pressed the IR button. I was unable to make out any features of anything in the room. When I opened the door, I turned the scope on the dimly lit hall. I was able to see features there, but no difference with or without the illuminator.

BTW, the unit strikes me as very well built and am looking forward to it serving me well once I figure out this hiccup. The clarity of detail and ease of use way beyond anything I've seen from the Gen1 scopes. Any other troubleshooting thoughts?

and then you will need external IR illuminator.
i saw at ebay days ago a powerfull 3000mW and 5000mW IR illuminator.
a new type i think.
never noticed before.

I had te same problem with my YUCON RANGER (twin brother of the Busnell Stealhtview) and a moment after I can't to stop the machine.
Obliged to remove battery pack. I've returned it
before your problem , how was the image. was it clear or with snow?
