so, what is a good $500 scope for beginner? will be used for wildlife, birds, scenery. can a converter be purchased to attach a digital camera, or is this not suggested??

Hi

try the Alpen 788 or Vortex Skyline. You can use an Alpen 706 to attach a small digital camera to either.
