Konus Scopes

Anyone with actual experience with Konus scopes? A friend who owns a gun shop turned me on to these, but I am a bit hesitant due to the price. The lifetime over-the-counter replacement warranty would seem to speak of a degree of quality, and he hasn't had any returned.

It's to be mounted on a Weatherby Vanguard 300 win-mag equipped with a recoil compensator. My first choice was a Leupold 4.4-12x50, but the Konus is tempting me at 1/3 the price.

Anybody with real experience with Konus scopes out there? The spend-more-money-to-get-more scope mantra doesn't necessarily fly. I've spent a great deal of money before and gotten junk product and poor customer service in return. Sometimes you get better, sometimes you just help the stock price of the company. My friend doesn't care which scope he sells me, and would actually make more off the higher end brands. He just likes the Konus.

You get what you pay for assuming like features. Country of origin enters in because of cost, not quality. Leupold scopes are worth much more than the 2/3 more money.
