Yeah, I am in the I love Suncloud SCR glasses boat too. I do not even remember how many I owned in the past. I signed the petition. My co-worker does not understand why I am "getting so emo" over a pair of sunglasses. Too young to understand. Best pair of glasses for skiing I have ever owned - bar none. If I had known that were going to stop production I would have shelled out the 500-$600 to buy 10 pair to last the rest of my life.

Can anyone help me? I bought a pair of Vintage SunCloud sunglasses on ebay, the one's I won are black framed with rose lens with SCR on the left lens and France frame stamp on R-arm and SunCloud name on L-arm, but the one's that came in the mail today are alittle different from the pictures of the pair I won, It has "SC" on the left lens instead and "SC45" by the France frame stamp and the Suncloud name logo lettering is different on the L-arm, does anyone know the difference?????????????????? Thanks

Another frustrated SUNCLOUD ROSE SCR owner. My 3rd pair of Sunclouds. The first pair did have the SCR on the right lens like some have mentioned. I broke them somehow when skiing I think, sent them back to the company who fixed no problem, good as new - that was years ago. Then they were stolen... The second pair with the SCR on the left lens, bought many years later, but lens seem just as good as the originals from the 80s. Still wearing these today, even with a broken arm on one side. Fortunate enough to find a good used pair on the web for auction and those too so worth the money.
THESE LENS ARE ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!!! WANT SO MUCH TO HAVE THESE BACK ON THE MARKET AGAIN.
Signed the petition and hope everyone else does too.

i have a pair of sunclouds scr rose tint glass lenses with metal frames. these are about 10yrs old. looking for a place that can restore the frames. the lenses are odd shape so getting new frames to fit will not be a option. I was excited last week when i found sunclouds in a small store in leavenworth wa. talked to the owner and he told me that they are now owned my smithoptics. anyways once i got home i looked online and these are not the same ones. none of them have the scr rose colored lenses. so my hunt continues.

Hello,

I'm new to this site. I see all the interest in original Sunclouds. Well I have a pair of original Sunclouds in mint condition. They have the case, box and stickers on the lens. They are sort of wayfarer looking. I may consider selling for the right price. These are extremely, extremely rare from what I can see. Thanks!

I am looking for a black left arm for a favorite pair of SCR SunClouds. Does anyone know where I can locate an arm or entire frame? Thanks much!

For a replacement temple arm you may need to contact Suncloud Optics at 1-800-635-4401. That would be your best bet.

I have a pair or suncloud Rose colored lenses, with Dark blue Cat eye frame, and also a pair of Vuarnet almost the same, lenses are not perfect. BUT SCR on right lens, from the 80's, I quit skiing and will sell both... BTW, there is no V etched on the lenses of the Vuarnets... don't know why. they sure look authentic.

Thank you for the information skinnose!

It sounds like they might be authentic, but of course you can never be too sure. I would recommend calling Suncloud Optics to see if they are able to find a way to validate their authenticity.

The Vuarnets are very nice sunglasses though!

The new suncloud optics have NOTHING to do with the old sunclouds, the only thing they'll do is offer a slight discount on their new sunclouds. Been there done that.

So glad to find this forum. I have 2 pair of Sunclouds from the 80's. One is rose lens with brown frames, the other is dark brown lens with black frame. The frames are kind of unisex so my husband and I can both use them. I absolutely love the rose lens or "looking at the world through rose colored glasses". The dark brown lens enhance green and yellow. I recently made the mistake of making a purchase online of what I thought were going to be Suncloud's. Boy, was I disappointed, not even close to the real thing. I have since been searching the web trying to find out what happened. Thanks to this site I now know. I'm returning the 'Sunclouds' and will make due with my 80's, somewhat scratched lens until I can find the real thing.

Blueeyes, Welcome!

I am glad you found our forum useful. Rose colored lenses are great and everything appears sharp and contrasted. Most hues in the warmer spectrum of the color wheel are great for highlighting. Browns, Amber's, Yellows and Vermilion all work great for bringing the detail and sharpness. However these lenses aren’t color correct. They will wash your view with their warm colors. And that is really nice!

Let us know what's on your mind. 8)

Well, I'm back after, what is it - 7 years. Haven't been able to get my Original Sunclouds (yes, the new sunclouds are not the old quality) repaired.

I tried the Body Glove Sandy Beach and Wahoo rose sunglasses that someone mentioned as being close to SCR (Suncloud Rose) lenses and found them adequate but a little light (lets too much sunlight through). I just tried a new brand that is quite close to SCR. They are Oceano sunglasses from Italy. While they are not polarized they do have reflective coating. The sales rep said they were made with the original Suncloud Rose lens in mind. Couldn't find a website for them.

I saw two models w/ the rose lenses, the Aspen and I can't remember what the other one was. Big 5 sporting goods has both the Oceano and the Body Glove sunglasses normally at about $110 but now on sale for around $45 or $50.
