Some Ray Ban Wayfarer glasses come with silver mirror. The lenses covered by this coating will look similar to the ones on the image you posted. These are the models I found:

Ray Ban 2140 962-40-5022 turquoise (really bright blue) frame with silver mirror lenses - http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-ico ... asses.html

Ray Ban 2140 968-3E-5022 dark pink frame with silver mirror lenses - http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-ico ... asses.html

Ray Ban 2140 969-39-5022 dark red frame with gold mirror lenses - http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-ico ... asses.html

Ray Ban 2132 722-40-5218 white frame with silver mirror lenses - http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-ico ... asses.html

Sometimes it is hard to understand if the lenses come with mirror coating when looking at the picture on-line. Usually the lenses look simply gray or brown. The reason is that it is hard to take a shot of mirrored lenses and get a clean picture without any reflection coming off the lenses.

Hmmm...It appears there are no wayfarer in mirror lenses that come in my size. I wear either RB2140 54mm or RB 2132 55mm. Is there anyway I can get a normal pair in my size then custom order the lenses so my glasses can be refitted with reflective lenses?

Absolutely. You can order either RB 2140 in 54 mm or RB 2132 55 mm with custom made lenses. Here are the links:

http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-ico ... es-rx.html

http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-ico ... es-rx.html

These are links to Ray-Ban frames with prescription lenses. Most of wayfarer glasses frames are part of Ray Ban prescription sunglasses collection. You select any frame color and lens size from the menu and than add lenses customizing them to your preference. If you do not need vision correction, we can make the lenses non-Rx. Lens material will not be that crucial for your glasses, but I would recommend to go with polycarbonate. It is cost effective and has a combination of optical qualities that people are looking for in the lenses. Than you can select a lens and mirror coating colors. I think solid silver mirror will look closer to the ones on the picture you posted.

If we do not list a color in the options that you are looking for, just leave us a note in comments section and we will get back to you letting you know if that is available. Also specify in comments that you are ordering non-prescription lenses.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Wow, this forum is really quite helpfull! I was at Sunglass Hut and they have "Wayfarer Juniors" they model number RJ2164 and size 52/18 they were hot pink. this is exactly the frame that I am looking for! I think they were a really good fit. I was looking for the same glasses online so i could order prescription lenses in them, and i can't find them anywhere! Even on the Ray-Ban website they don't list that colour. Do you know anything about this Liz?

Hi Liz, I know that the RB2113's are no longer made, but I was wondering besides the spring vs. barrel hinges what difference is there between a pair of RB2113's and RB2140's, both of them in 50mm?

Thanks!

I forgot to add, I meant differences size-wise.

Thanks!

Unfortunately I was not able to find the RJ 2164 neither on Ray-Ban official web site nor anywhere else on-line. :( Are you sure the model number is RJ2164? Current Ray Ban Junior Wayfarer sunglasses are RJ 9035S and they do not come in pink. They are available in red, black and white frame colors.

RB 2113 had a thinner rim on the sides and in general it was little bit smaller. If you compare Ray Ban 2140 in 50 mm size and Ray Ban 2113 in the same size, RB2140 will be slightly bigger.

Hi Liz,

I have been to a sunglass hut a couple of times, and each time the 2140 originals have caught my eye, I really want to stay with the original look they had from the 50's, so I really don't want to venture into different models, however this is where my problem is.

I tried on two different pairs of 2140's with the Same markings, however one pair had less curved armes (part that wraps around ears), and the other made a sharp curve downward, and when compaired together, they had a very noticible difference between them. I too have found the arm length to be a little short, and give the glasses a more tilted forward look, as the arms don't wrap behind my ears, but more ride on top with a gap between the very top of my ears and bottom of the arm.

Can I get a 2140 in a longer arm length, (girl at counter said the larges would be a little better for me) I believe the ones I tried were 50's too.

Thanks:)

- Ray Ban 2140 is slightly tilted down (that is called pantoscopic tilt) and it makes the frame sit little bit lower. The nose bridge size might be another problem. If it were little bit wider, the sunglasses would fit much better with the original arms. I would recommend you to try Ray Ban New Wayfarer in 55 mm size. I think it will fit you better. Ray-Ban RB 4140 is another option. It has rounder lenses and key hole bridge.

- You can heat the arms and straighten them little bit for a better fit. You can check with a local optical store, they can do it easily.

Re: Ray ban wayfarer Size?

Postby Guest on Mon Feb 15, 2010 3:16 pm

I am currently wearing a pair of Agnes b. eyeglasses (ABP212-W09) with the following description:
Lens Diameter: 56mm
Distance Between Lenses: 16mm

I am thinking of purchasing a pair of Ray-Ban RB2140 sunglasses as normal eyeglasses.
According to my current glasses, I think the 54mm one is suitable for me.
However, I am concerned that the lens are to "tall" for my face.
Would you tell me the total vertical height as well as the total width of the frames of both RB2140 50 and 54mm?

Thank you very much!

Ray Ban Wayfarer 2140 in 54 mm size: total height - 50 mm, total width - 145 mm

Ray Ban Wayfarer 2140 in 50 mm size: total height - 47 mm, total width - 140 mm

If you decide to place an order for Ray Ban Prescription Wayfarer glasses, follow this link.

There are also Ray Ban eyeglasses that reinterpret the Wayfarer style - Ray Ban RB 5121

Ray-Ban RB 5121 in 50 mm size: total height - 47 mm, total width - 140 mm (exactly the same as Wayfarer 2140)

Ray-Ban RB5121 in 47 mm size: total height - 45 mm, total width - 135 mm

The lenses are quite tall to tell you the truth. You can also consider Ray Ban 2132 sunglasses as they have a smaller vertical measurement.

My friend has a pair of RB2140 (the numbers on the inside of the arm are RB2140 902 50 22 3N). I tried them on and they look fine but the arms do not appear to be long enough. Can I get this model with longer arms?

No, unfortunately they come with standard size temples only. Like I suggested above, you could heat the arms and straighten them little bit.

Liz.

Before you responded, I called Luxottica customer support and told them my problem. They said the 2140 frame comes with either 145 or 150 mm. Is this true or not?

I pulled all Ray-Ban Wayfarer 2140 from stock, and all of them had the same arms. I just got off the phone with Ray-Ban Sales Representative for Midwest ... That's what I have found out from him: Ray-Ban RB 2140 both in 50 mm and 54 mm comes with one size temples - 150 mm. RB2140 could also be available with 145mm temples, but only in 47mm eye size that they do not manufacture any more.

Hi,

I tried on a pair of ray-ban wayfarers RB-2132 at the mall, but this site has the best price so I plan on ordering them from here. The inside of the arm had the letter K inside. What size lenses do these have? I want to make sure I order the exact ones I tried on at the store. Thanks!

I think K is unrelated to the actual size of the frame. Ray-Ban RB-2132 comes in two sizes: medium (52-18) and extra large (55-18). The extra large frames are marked with "L" on one of the temples. RB-2132 in 55-18 size are the largest Ray Ban Wayfarer glasses. So, unless you know that you usually the extra large size is the one that fits you better, go with the 52-18 frame.

Re: Ray ban wayfarer Size?

Postby Preeths on Fri Apr 02, 2010 3:04 pm

Hi Liz,

I have been looking to buy 2 pairs of Wayfarers but cant make up my mind on the sizes

i currently have two other raybans. The RB 4099 which fits me like a dream. and RB 3026 (aviator) which is slightly large for my face but I purchased it since I was looking for oversized aviators. The RB 3025 (small aviator), fit me well but looked a little too dimunitive.

Based on the above information, would it be possible to tell me if I should go for RB 2140 54 (large) or RB 2140 (50) Medium?
I'm just not able to decide.

Another question I have is what is the height of RB 2140 versus the RB 2151 (wayfarer square)?
Is the RB 2151 also available in different sizes like the 2140?

Im planning to purchase the 2140 in red and the 2151 in black. Any suggestions/ tips are welcome

Thank you so much.

Hi Preeths,

Ray Ban RB 3026 comes only in one size, however Ray Ban RB 3025 comes in 3 different sizes. If your RB 3025 is smaller than RB 3026, than you have either the 58 mm or 55 mm eye size. If you own Ray-Ban RB 4099 and it fits you perfectly, I would assume that you have the medium size RB 3025 in 55 mm. Ray Ban 2140 in a larger size should probably fit you better. If it appears not to fit you well, you can always exchange it.

The lenses in RB 2140 are significantly taller than the lenses in RB 2151.

Ray-Ban 2151 also comes in two sizes. I would recommend the larger size for you as well.
