Both Ray Ban 2140 and Ray Ban 2132 come with 145 mm temples. I know that Luxottica (Ray-Ban sunglasses manufacturer) offers 150 mm temples as well. But the sunglasses with 150 mm temples should be custom ordered from Italy, and therefore can not be returned for a refund.

I want to order the wayfarer from your site, but went to try on the glasses today both @ Sunglassess Hut and Macys. One version I tried on were tilted towards my face while others were not. can you please explain? Thanks!

Mikegesq,

Could you please clarify what mean by tilted? Do you mean that one of the frams was more curved and fitted you better? Also, do you know which style it was? So, that I can pull it out of stock and compare to the other Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses.

I would say that one of them, the bottom of the lenses, were tilted in towards my face, as opposed to being straight up and down.

Mikegesq,

That might be a geometry of this specific RayBan frame with thicker eye cups. If you could give me the model number, I would give you more information. Also, it might be just a defective frame. Since I haven't seen it myself, it is difficult to judge. Take a look at our Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses collection at

http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-way ... asses.html

Probably you'll find there the model you are looking for.

Ok, here's the deal.

I went to sunglasses hut again. Tried some on.

I tried on 2 pairs, one regular, one polarized.

The ones which fit, the polarized ones, had the following on the inside of the the left arm (looking inside)

"RB2140 902/57 50[]22 3P"

while the ones which had the bottom of the lenses which were way more tilted in towards my cheeks read:

"RB2140 902 50[]22 3N"

Could you please clarify the difference? Is it just the polarized lenses? It cant be can it?

Mikegesq,

I just pulled two these Ray Ban models from stock. They look and fit absolutely identical :?: :!: The only difference is the lens: one is non-polarized, the other one is polarized. Probably the store you went to, has a defectived pair.

I am confused because this has been the story more than once. Some 2140's will literally be tighter than the other's but have the same frame size.

OK - say that the lenses are 54 instead of 50, would the arms be longer? Maybe that's it?

This is getting annoying. I really wanna save $ and get the right pair but this is ridiculous!

The standard temple length for RB 2140 is 145 mm. It is the same for both lens sizes. I'm sorry I don't know how else I can help you. Sometimes it is difficult to give a piece of eyewear advice, as it all depends on a specific style and how well it fits you. The good news is that if you buy the Ray Ban sunglasses on-line and do not like how they fit, you will have 30 days to return them for a full refund or an exchange.

Also it sometimes happens in the stores that the frame that they have not been sold for a long time fits little bit different than a brand new one. People have tried it on too many times, and the screws that hold arms got loosen. The new pair would fit tighter. That also might be the reason. The sunglasses that we sell are brand new. They come directly from the manufacturer's stock and nobody has tried them before.

Hi Liz,

Earlier in this thread, you mentioned that Luxotica has the ability to customize Wayfarers to 150mm for the temples. How would I go about placing a special order. I know that I am looking to buy wayfarers now but the 145mm temple size seems to be the only hangup for me. Please advise on how I can special order my sunglasses. Thanks,
Kasie :)

Hi Kasie,

I apologize I have not answered your post until now. I was away for a week. If you would like to place an order for Ray Ban sunglasses with different temples, you will need to give us a call. The phone number is 800-504-5897, option 2 is for Eyewear Department. The person you need to talk to is Kristina. She will take your order in the phone.

Please note that it might take Luxottica up to 6 weeks to customize the product and ship it back to us in US. Also, since it will be a custom made order, we won't be able to take it for a refund or exchange it for a different product.

Re: Ray ban wayfarer Size?

Postby S.B. on Sun May 10, 2009 11:03 am

I have a pair of vintage tortoise Ray Ban Wayfarer II, bought them in the late 80's. Then Wayfarer's came in just two sizes: regular the II's which were larger. Now I've gone and broken the frame on them and need to get a new pair.

What size and model is the exact or closest to the original vintage pair. Would they have the tilt that the vintage original's have?

I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
S.B.

Hi S.B.,

If you still have the broken glasses, could you please check what is impinted on the temples. This info will help me to find the closest model.

Would you say the wayfarer 2143 in 47 mm is a smaller fir than the 52 mm 2132? does 47 mm refer to the height or width of the lens? thank you

Ray Ban RB 2143 in 47 mm size is smaller than Ray Ban RB 2132 in 52 mm size. The 47 and 55 measurements refer to the effective diameter of the lens. Take a look at the image below. The ED measurement represents the effective diameter.

i'm debating on getting 2113 (54mm) or 2140 (50mm). i currently have 2132 (55mm). i recently got some of the 2140's in 54mm and they were a lot larger than i expected considering i have the 2132's in 55mm. can you tell me the difference between the 2113-54mm and 2140-50mm lens wise? thanks!

What's the difference between 2140 in 54mm and 2132 in 55mm?
I tried 2140 in 50mm and 54mm, but 50mm weren't wide enough (looked small on me) and 54mm lens are a little too big vertically.
I'm curious to know if 2132 in 55mm would be something I'm looking for? Width of 2140 55mm and vertical length of lens like 2140 50mm.

The person above me mentioned 2113 in 54mm, would like to hear some info on that too if possible.

Many thanks

to beverlymh: Ray Ban RB2113 has smaller vertical measurement of the lenses than RB 2140. I think "wide-wise" Ray Ban 2140 in 50 mm size will be smaller than Ray Ban 2113 in 54 mm.

to Guest: I would recommend you to try on Ray Ban RB 2132 in 52 mm size. It should be larger than RB 2140 in 50 mm and smaller than RB2140 in 54 mm lens size.

Liz,

You say that the RB2143's are the smallest wayfarer. My sister currently has a pair of RB2140's (50mm?) and they are way too wide for my face as in the arms are very far from my face. I like the solid color of the RB2140 and honestly dont like the two toned color of the 2143's. You were also talking about the how some 52mm are smaller than the 50mm ( but I forgot the name of this frame). If you can help me out with this it would be great. Thanks in advance
