thanks for your reply liz

what about the 2140 with 54mm lenses, how do they compare to my 2113's? Would they still be narrower with the same size lenses?

thanks

Hi,

Yes, Ray Ban RB2140 and RB2113 sunglasses are very compatible to each other. Lens size and shape will be the same.

You can try either Ray Ban 2140 with 54 mm size lenses or Ray Ban 2132 with 55 mm lens size. These will be the largest Ray Ban Wayfarer frames. The difference between the 54 and 55 mm sizes is not that significant.

This can get complicated, can't it? At any rate, I am currently wearing 55/18 2132 and I have no problem with the width - they are definitely not too wide - just not as tall as I would like). My next set will likely be the 2140. Unfortunately I have not been able to locate any 54mm 2014s to try on - the local shops only have the 50mm size. I seems to me that if the 55/18 2132 glasses are not too wide (which they aren't at all), then my size in the 2140 would be 54mm. I have tried on the 50mm 2014 and they fit but just barely. Given that the 54mm are only 4 mm wider (54/18 vs. 50/22) discounting the beefier frame, it seems that the 54mm would be a safe bet. Am I correct there?

Thanks

To Guest,
I'm glad I was able to help.

To Ksargent,
If RB 2132 in 55 mm lenses fits you well, than RB 2140 in 54 mm most likely will also fit you well. In my opinion, original Ray Ban Wayfarer 2140 has the "tallest lens" look. So, you are definitely on the right track. If your local store does not carry RB2140, you can purchase it on-line.

If you don't like it, you can send it back for a refund or exchange within 30 days once you receive it.

thanks for the response, Liz. I actually am going to need RX sunglasses and am waiting until my next eye exam before I make a purchase (I'm only a couple of months away). I assume that the 30 day return privilege does NOT apply to RX glasses (at least that's what I've gleaned from your site) - is that correct? Perhaps I will locate a pair between now and then to try on. Funny thing - the local L**********'s optician could not find the 54mm 2014 in her catalog. I thought that was odd since they supposedly are owned by the same company as Luxotica. It's of no consequence as I have been dissatisfied with L**********'s work in the past - especially on prescription lens tinting and their prices are pretty high. So you will very likely be my source once I have a new prescription.

I assume that the 54mm are still in production and easy to get - at least for you.

Thanks again - your site is one of the most helpful I've found online and your prices are very good as well.

Ken,

There are Ray-Ban 2140 frame / lens color combinations that are available in 50 mm lens size only (for example light blue frame with silver lenses, dark violet frame with green lenses). But the most popular frame/lens RB 2140 options (for example classic black frame with dark green lenses, tortoise with brown lenses, white frame with dark lenses, etc.) are available in both sizes. Take a look at http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-ico ... asses.html for all available options.

You can place an order for these Ray Ban Prescription Wayfarer sunglasses at:

http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-ico ... es-rx.html

If you are not sure how the frame fits, you can order plano sunglasses first, try them on and place an order for prescription sunglasses afterwards. If you order plano non-Rx sunglasses, you can return them for a refund. Although our policy is slightly different for the products that we need to customize for you. You can not return a pair of prescription sunglasses for a full refund as every pair is made to your specifications and is not resalable. So, such returns will be a subject to restocking fee to cover the cost of Rx lenses. Take a look at our general OpticsPlanet return policy and specific Prescription Eyewear Policy for more information.

Let me know if you need my help with the Rx lens options choice. If you are going to get a new eye exam, please make sure your optician will measure your Pupil Distance (PD). That is the distance in mm between two pupils. We will need this measurement to accurately center the Rx lenses in the frame. Sometimes opticians do not write PD on the copy of your prescription and you have to call them back to get it. Also, please lmk if you need bifocals.

i went to a subglass website and i did some research
rb2151 eyesize was 52 bridge was 21 so the front width should be 125 mm
rb2140 54mm was eyesize 54 bridge 18 so the front would be 126 mm
from what i read on the website so if i go and try on a rb2140 54mm and see if it fits alittle loose?
im not use to spending alot of money on sunglasses but i just turned 21 and i need a really good pair of glasses for my hangovers and where i live they dont sell rb2151 so i kinda need the feedback from you guys and order online lol.

Hi Liz,

This thread is extremely helpful. I'm sure it drives a lot of traffic to your website, thanks for all your diligence in answering all our questions.

I've read through the thread but I still have a question I was hoping to get your advice on. I have tried on the 2132 - 52mm and the 2140's in the 50mm and 54mm. I found that the 2132 52mm was too small and the lenses were not tall enough. As for the 2140s, the 54mm was too wide for me and ever so slightly to tall. The 2140 50mm was the closest fit out of all three, but it was still not wide enough and not tall enough. Is there anything in between the 2140 50mm and 54mm with tall lenses that you could recommend? I read through the thread and saw that they stopped manufacturing a 2140 52mm. Would the 2113 54mm be something in between what I mentioned? I read in an earlier thread that once you sell out of the 2113s you're done with them, are you sold out of all of them already? Any advice for something in between the 2140 50mm and 54mm with tall lenses would be great. Thanks!!

akhilesh,

RB 2140 (52/21 mm) and RB 2151 (54/18 mm) are about the same width. The main difference is in the lens height. RB2140 has taller lenses with rounder edges. The vertical measurement of the RB2151 lenses is smaller and the lens is closer to a rectangular in shape (sometimes this model is even called rectangular wayfarer). I would choose the RB 2140 look. They are trendy and cool looking. In addition it comes in all kinds of frame and lens color combinations.

You can order Ray Ban RB2140 at

http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-ico ... asses.html

and Ray Ban RB2151 at

http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-rb2 ... asses.html

In case you don't like how the sunglasses fit, you will have 30 days upon receipt to return them for a refund.

Hi Guet,

Unfortunately, RB 2113 is gone. You can try Ray Ban RB2151 52mm

http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-rb2 ... asses.html

It should fit you well, but please keep in mind that the lenses are vertically shorter than the ones in the original Ray Ban Wayfarer.

You can also consider Ray Ban RB 4105 50mm

http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-rb4 ... asses.html

This is a folding Wayfarer style. The frame folds at the bridge, and the sunglasses come down to pocket-size. They come in a small leather case.

Hi,

I'm looking at RB2140 5418. Do you think it'll fit me well if a RB3025 5814 fits me well?

Thanks in advance! 8)

Hi, passerby. I think it should be the right size for you. You can purchase Ray-Ban RB 2140 5418 at

http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-ico ... asses.html

The Ray-Ban RB2132 could be little bit too wide in my opinion.

akhilesh, the main difference between these two Ray-Ban Wayfarer styles is in the vertical measurement of the lens. Take a look at the image. The upper frame is RayBan 2140 and it has taller and rounder lenses. The image at the bottom is RayBan 2151 that features shorter rectangular lenses.
