Authenticity of my Ray Ban Wayfarers (Tortoise 2140 50 mm)

Postby Mwhitaker1291 on Mon Dec 17, 2012 8:17 pm

Hi, I got a pair of tortoise 2140 50 m&m Raybans from eBay for $80. While examining them they have good weight, the metal arms inside the plastic, the RB is etched but there is nowhere on my pair where it says RB or rayban on the nose piece? Is it supposed to be there and is the RB on the lens supposed to be below or above the 7 bar hinge? I'm hoping these aren't fake. I strongly despise non authentic items.

Hello and thank you for the post.

The Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer Sunglasses RB2140 doesn't have nose pieces. The frame is a solid Zyl design. As I hold a pair of authentic RB2140 right now there is no logo present anywhere on the bridge, only on the temple arms and lenses. The word Ray-Ban is parallel to and on the opposite side of the 7 bar hinge.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the speedy response. One more question what does the 50 a box and then the number 22 mean? Size of the frame and if so which ones are the smaller ones because I believe mines a smaller one because it fits so snug compares to my friends wayfarers.

Good Morning! These numbers have everything to do with fit. The RB2140 is offered in 2 sizes the 50mm and the 54mm. This is the horizontal measurement of the lens at it's widest point. The 22 means that the bridge is 22mm. The 54mm size offers an 18mm bridge. It sounds like you might enjoy the 54mm since the 50mm is a bit snug.

Please let me know if you want to place an order. They are in stock and ready to ship.
