Specific measurements for AO Original Pilot sunglasses?

Postby scev on Wed Oct 30, 2013 3:19 pm

I have been shopping for a new, relatively nice pair of sunglasses, and have decided that I like the American Optical Original Pilot sunglasses the best. However, I cannot find any *specific* measurements for them beyond the "52, 55, 57" mm lens sizes, *anywhere*. I am looking for measurements such as what is specified in this link: http://www.simplyeyeglasses.com/help/frame_size.php. Most importantly, I would like to know the a) bridge length, and b) the total lens width (left endpiece + left lens + bridge + right lens + right endpiece), but in all honesty I feel it would serve this site well to provide exact measurements of all the relative specs of its eyewear.

I've looked on the original AO site as well as several other resellers, and nobody seems to want to provide measurements. OpticsPlanet seems to have the most competitive selection and prices, so I'd like to purchase from here. But since I can't try these sunglasses on, I cannot commit to an online purchase without knowing the *precise* measurements.

Thanks in advance for any help!

(P.S. If this helps, I am interested in the AO Original Pilot, silver frame, true color gray glass lens, polarized sunglasses, code AO-SG-FlGOrPilot-S-TCGPG-WS-55 or AO-SG-FlGOrPilot-S-TCGPG-WS-52, depending on what lens size corresponds to the measurements I asked for that are correct for my face.)

Thanks for the post. Please understand that it's not a matter of wanting to provide the information. Not all maunfacturers make those dimensions readily available to retailers. We were able to get them for you:

AO Original Pilot Sunglasses in 52mm:

A=52mm
B=42mm
DBL=20mm
Temple Arms=140mm

I hope this helps with your decision. Please keep in mind the best way to determine fit is to try them on. Enjoy!

Thanks, this does help! (And I apologize for coming off as presumptuous about the reasons behind not providing measurements.)

And yes, I would prefer to try them on, but for some reason I can't find this brand at any store in my area--they seem to only be sold online.

No worries! Take advantage of our hassle free return policy. Place an order for the 52mm and if that doesn't work you can return them and try another size. They are a great deal. 8)
