Bushnell Rangefinder

Postby Greg on Tue Jan 11, 2005 11:46 pm

I've got a Bushnell Scout rangefinder. I've tried to use it when the temperatures are in the mid 20's, and I get no yardage readings. When it's above freezing, it seems to work fine.

I called Bushnell to see if this is a common problem, and the person I talked to said that they don't work when the temperature is below freezing.

Before purchasing my rangefinder, I researched it thoroughly, and found no mention of it not functioning in cold weather. My instruction manual also does not mention it, although it mentions other conditions that it performs poorly. I have searched the internet, and have found no other mention of rangefinders not functioning in temperatures below freezing.

I like to hunt in cold weather. I know many other hunters that do also. I think that it is very deceptive to advertize these products for hunting, if they also don't mention the shortcomings.

I'm still under warranty and would like to get my rangefinder fixed, if it is suppose to work in cold weather. Do you know if the customer service person I talked to knows what he's talking about?

Defective Bushnell Scout Rangefinder

Postby Greg on Sat Mar 05, 2005 2:41 pm

I sent my Bushnell Scout rangefinder in to determine if it was defective, since it would not function in cold weather. No questions were asked. Bushnell sent me a brand new Bushnell Scout which is working in cold weather. I'm very impressed by the way Bushnell honors their warrantees.
