| I have a Marlin 45/70 that will be used at distances of 150 yards to 250 yards. What are your recommendations? Is there a scope that can be easily removed (in the field) if I choose to use the iron sight at 100 yards? |

Hi
Be hard to beat a good 3-9x40, such as a Leupold VX-II, http://www.opticsplanet.net/leupold-vari-x-ii-3-9x40mm-rifle-scope.html Burris Fullfield II, http://www.opticsplanet.net/burris-3-9x40mm-fullfield-ii-rifle-scope.html Bushnell Elite 3200, http://www.opticsplanet.net/bu3el32hascw.html and so on.
For bases, try the Leupold QR, http://www.opticsplanet.net/leupold-qr-quick-release-bases.html, (Matte:#54229)
For rings, try the http://www.opticsplanet.net/leupold-quick-release-rings.html (Gloss:#49970, or Matte: #49971) _________________ ----------------------

I think a 3-9X is overkill for a .45-70 (I also think a 250 yard shot is a bit optimistic with this caliber). I would suggest either a fixed 4X or a 1-4X variable. As mentioned, the Leupold quick release rings would be ideal.
