New Gun not working properly

I have a new out of the box radar gun received via ups today that when turned on is in KPH. When I pull the trigger sometimes 888 apears and sometimes it turns off. When I try to turn in on, then pull the trigger and hold the trigger and quickly depress the small orange button below the screen to change to mph nothing happens. If I repeat the procedure it turn off. I replace the battery with two different sets of 2 new batteries.

Any occurance of this before?
