newbie - help with "shaky" image thru viewfinder

Postby leace on Wed Jul 16, 2008 8:44 pm

I received a Bushnell 70 x 800 telescope (model 78-9970) as an anniversary gift from my employer - I have had it set up and have been looking at the moon - but the view thru the viewfinder is shaky - I find it's also hard to get it "locked" in the correct position as the two turn-knobs don't really keep it steady - I am totally new to all this, but I have used tripods with cameras before and I've never had it as unsteady as this tele. is anybody familiar with this particular telescope, or have otherwise had to deal with excessive "tele shake" when viewing thru the viewfinder?

Any help would be graciously accepted..

Hi

Just the nature of a telescope tripod at this price. You can improve it a bit by taping some weight to the legs - old batteries or whatever - but best advice is to keep magnification low. Things only get worse as magnification goes up.
