Computerized Telescope - which one

Postby tnats on Sat Oct 04, 2008 10:31 pm

Hi there, I'm looking for an inexpensive spotting scope/telescope that can be used for site surveys for installing line of sight wireless Internet devices.

So, we get a lead that a customer wants Internet, we do a site survey using Google Earth and some other tools, then we need to do a site survey. I would like something where I put in the customer's lat-long and it directs me to the customer site from one of our access point or visa versa.

Any suggestions? Anything for under 500?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi

Sorry, no such feature available on any spotting scope or telescope. Computerized telescopes contain their own computer, designed to locate astronomical objects. These are not personal computers.

Thanks for the reply.

On the following product:

You put in lat, long and degrees-minutes-seconds. Couldn't I put in the lat and long and degrees of my access point on a building and it would point to it?

Thanks.

Hi

No, you input that kind of information to align the computer so that the sky matches your location. Again, this is strictly a computer for astronomy. It is not designed to locate objects on land.
