Meade LX200R and 3.3focal reducer

Postby astroeric on Fri Nov 07, 2008 1:23 pm

Has anyone had any success using the 3.3 focal reducer with the 12" lx200R. I understand that there is a issue regarding insufficiant backfocus. I am haveing the optics installed in the AO-7 tube fron SBIG, and theoretically then the tube will slide into the microfocuser and compensating 4 lack of backfocus? Any help ,advice would appreciated. to see what exactly im trying to explane visit,

Hi

Are you using a color wheel or other filter between the reducer and camera? From what I've heard, not going to happen. You need to attach the camera directly to the reducer. That's about the only feedback I have received from customers on this. Hopefully some other users can offer a suggestion.

Yes ,Ihave the cfw8a on the st -7 xme. This set-up is very much like just attching the adapter to reducer then to cameras cfw. The advantage is that the lenses are installed in the AO-7 optic tube and this slides up into the micro focuser combining the two similarly to the Moonlite brand focal reducer model, just a hair different.
