That's a fine choice. The main factor in telescope size is diameter of the mirror or lens - not the magnification or power - so a larger scope is a better choice in terms of performance. A small telescope can see exactly the same TYPES of objects - moon, planets, galaxies, nebulae, star clusters - as a large telescope, but a larger telescope can see more objects and more detail in those objects. An 8" scope is considered entry level large telescope. Will take a long time to see all that is available in this one.
