Just got a telescope. The object in the finderscope is opposite the object in the eyepiece. What I am I doing wrong?

Nothing at all. All finder scopes produce an upside down image. It's a matter of working with it and getting used to it. If this is a problem for you, and some folks never do get used to it, then just replace the finder scope with a red dot, such as the Celestron StarPointer. You can attach this to any scope with either velcro or double-sided tape if you do not have the the right holes to attach it to your particular scope. These are much easier to use and far more effective than the typical cheap little 6x30 or 8x25 finder scopes you find on so many less expensive scopes.
