Hello,
I bought a meade ds2013 a few years back. It has been sitting in my hall for a couple of a while. Went to start it up last night and it doesn't slew across left to right. It moves north to south (up and down). I hear the motor running trying to move it but something is not catching--help please?
Also,
I own a 8" lx 200 classic. When plugged in nothing happens. I checked the fuses (in the base of scope and in the power pack (tried a second power pack from a friend) and nothing--suggestions?
Sitting on two scopes and can't use either of them unless I star hop the old fashion way with no automatic tracking but my own hands.

Re: Meade ds 2013 help (and lx 200 classic)
Ouch. I feel your pain. No one wants a scope that doesn't do what it's supposed to do.
On the DS, there should be a friction adjustment on both axis. I assume you tightened both. If so, and you still can't get movement on the alt axis, you probably have a defective gear or motor. Hate to say it, but that is not all that rare on even new scopes in that price range/quality class. I would not recommend you take the scope apart to check unless you are totally confident in your mechanical skills. Give Meade a call - yeah, I know, it can be hard to get through this time of year, but I don't see a simple fix.
On the LX, has to be a fuse or a bad connection, somewhere, if it is completely dead. Have you tried it with an AC adapter? I don't own one, so hopefully someone who does will post with some troubleshooting tips.
Not much help, I know.Sorry. I am better at using scopes than fixing them.
