How would you rate the Bushnell 675 X 4.5" (that your recommend in the $200-300 range) with the Meade ETX 90 (that you recommended in another posting)? I know there is quite a difference in price, but the functionality seems very comparable. It's impossible to tell about the quality of either from the writeups, though.
Many thanks,
Linda

I am not the owner of this site nor have I done any reviews but I will try to answer some of your questions. As far as Bushnell goes I would stay away from their telescopes and buy an equivalent meade or celestron. In my opinion a good choice would be the celestron nexstar 130gt.

Thank you for your interest in www.OpticsPlanet.com. Meade and Celestron are much more widely known for their telescopes. When comparing two scopes in a similar price range, Meade and Celestron would be a more reliable brand name.

Anytime you find a scope under $300, you have about the same quality among any brand. That is when you want to watch the numbers. The advantage to the Bushnell is the large objective, 4.5", or 114mm. Many of the others in the price range are only 3", or 70mm.

The Celestron 130GT, http://www.opticsplanet.com/ci-nextstar-130gt.html is an excellent scope with a 5" diameter lens. However, is a little more expensive than you were originally looking to spend.

The Meade ETX-90, http://www.opticsplanet.com/meade-etx90ec.html is a rare occasion when they pack a top quality telescope with the best optics in a small package. This scope will keep the optical quality of a larger scope in a much smaller unit.

I hope this has been helpful. Please let us know if there is anything else I can do for you.
Best Regards,
Stan Mack
