I've recently purchased a Celestron Nexstar 80GTL but am considering the Bushnell 612x3 Go to Reflector instead. I don't see the Celestron 80GTL on your site but it is similar to the Nexstar 80GT. I've never purchased a telescope, so I could be way off on this. The differences I can see are focal length of 900mm (vs. 400mm) F/11 (vs. F/5) Highest useful magnification 189x lowest 11x. Light gathering power 131x. Do you think I'm better off keeping the Celeston? If I do keep it, I'd like to add a Barlow lens or other additional accessory to increase the magnification. Any suggestions? I'm completely clueless about this but basically want a decent telescope for my husband that would allow him to see the planets/stars resonably well and would allow us to add to it over the years.
Thanks for your help.

Both of these telescopes are 80mm telescopes, meaning they will have basically the same potential. In that sense, there is nothing to gain by going to an 80mm reflector from the 80mm refractor you already have.

Ignore, the specs and just assume that the top useable magnification for either telescope will be about 150x. If you need more magnification than this, go to a larger telescope, not a different type.
