making paths and roads

I'm looking for the right instrument to measure hieghts, distance and angles in meters. I'm in a very hilly area in the Dominican Republic constucting paths and small roads. I'm not an engineer can u help me an recomend what i need.

A good laser range finder can do all that for you. The Trupulse 200, http://www.opticsplanet.net/laser-technology-trupulse-200-range-finders.html by Laser Tech can measure in meters and is very accurate and, considering the features, is reasonably priced.
