I would like to know if the atn night star is a good value and do you actualy see in total dackness and how far?

Yes, it's a good value. All of the first generation night vision monoculars are around $200.00 and are about the same quality and performance level.

Yes, they do see in total darkness, if the infra-red illuminator is switched on. This will allow you to see objects around 50 yards.
