B & L Balscope Sr.
The old Balscope was a classic and arguably one of the best spotting scopes, if not the very best, of its day. Truly a fine optic and if you got one in mint condition, you did very well. Finding an eyepiece, though, is going to be a long shot. Get on E-bay and watch like a hawk. Used is your only option, here.
I read your 10/09/2007 responce to IRTERRY regarding the Balscope Sr. spotting scope he picked up at a garage sale. I have my dad's Balscope Sr. w/60mm objective lens and 30X eye piece. It's still in it's original box etc but am missing the eye piece cover and the tripod mount. Also, at this point am unable to unscrew the front cap. I live 2 1/2 hours west of Seattle and wonder if you know of anyone out this way who might do service/cleaning on this fine scope and may also be able to help find used parts like the ones I mentioned above. Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts! BTFG1950

Independent repair outfits are rare these days. Most repairs are through the manufacturer. I would at least give Bushnell a call, since they handled B&L optics for a time. If nothing else, they would have contacts for repair. Otherwise, you might go online and try to Google something. As for used stuff, probably the best source is E-bay and, especially, Astromart. Got to register at Astromart, but it is a treasure trove of good used stuff. Best of luck. That is a fine old scope. be a shame not to be able to use it.
