I have decided on the Kowa TSN 884 with the 20-60 eye piece. Which tri pod and window mount should I get. I'm interested in quality and smooth operation in both. I won't be doing much treking with this set up. I have another set up for that. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi

Great choice

Any Bogen kit (and it must say kit) with a 701RC2 head is a good solid choice. These start with the 055XDB, 128RC and go up from there in terms of added features, such as lever locks, leg warmers and so on.

For a basic well-built window mount, try the Nikon 7070.

Thanks Joanie for the reply.
More questions for you. I've been looking at the Leupold 58400 window mount with the quick release base. I'd like a Bogen Manfrotto tripod and head with a quick release that is compatable withe the Lewpold window mount. Will the 701RC2 head work?

Hi

You are very welcome.

The Leupold does not offer an interchanegable head, so no option for using a Bogen head. It is referring to the QR plate, which is basically the same as the Bogen QR. The head, though, is a bit light for an 80mm scope

If you want to use a Bogen head, try the Bogen 243 then add a head such as the 700RC2 or even the 701RC2

I must not have too clear in my question, opps. I was wondering if the leupold QR on the window mount is interchage able with the 701RC2 OR plate?

Hi

Fairly certain it is the same plate, since the plate on the Leupold Compact works with a Bogen, but I'll have to get to the warehouse and see if I can find one. May not be able to get to it until Monday, though, since the warehouse is closed.

Thanks Joanie, you a great help. Looks like I'll be going with Leupold 58400 window mount and the Boen Manfrotto view Alum Kit 701RC2, 190V tripod and head.
