15-30x50...Leupold goldring
Hi Joanie, I was wondering if the 15-30x50 Leupold gold ring has the power to see 22 long rifle rimfire bullet holes at a 100 yds. I recently got hooked at shooting 22lr and got tired of putting up the 20-75X82 Nikon Fieldscope I bought based on your recommendations. I just want something small that will sit on top of the table, and 100 yds would be the max distance. I did see some cheaper scopes but did not like what I saw until I came up and price and for $400 I like this one. Any other recommendation by you will ALWAYS weigh heavily in my purchase. I want small and cheap for 100 yds. Your humble servant and beleiver eagerly awaits your reply my Optic Queen.

Hi
Okay, now I am blushing, but thank-you for that great build-up. Wow!
Haven't actually tried that one, but under ideal conditions, I'd say, there is a chance. 30x will be good enough for that range. The iffy part is that small 50mm non-ED objective, which will severly limit resolution. If you want to stay that small, I would at least kick in some ED and go with the Brunton Eterna 50ED for about the same price.
I'd be more comfortable moving up to a 60mm scope, just to give you some margin for error. Again, be hard to beat the Brunton Eterna ED 62.

I just bought one and had if for a day and sent it back. I found it quite hard to look through. It was not worth what it cost me. It was clear though... i'll give it that but just quite picky on where you have your eye when looking through it. Just my two cents.
