I am looking at buying the nikon fieldscope III ED. It is the old version with 20-45X eyepiece. However, when shopping around I came across the NikonTactical Fieldscope TF3 ED. It appears to be the same scope but in black. It is also quite a bit cheaper. My question is are they essentialy the same scope? If not, what are the differences? Any help would be much appreciated!
You're correct. Only difference is color on the TF3. Either way, both great scopes, especially if you are getting a good price. Only negative is the limited eye relief on the zooms. It was non-existent on the old 20-45x, a bit improved on the optically better 20-60x, but still a bit short of what you need to be comfy with eyeglasses. Also, be sure the scopes include the eyepiece in the price. Nikon currently only offers the scopes with the eyepieces, but there was a time they offered the scopes and eyepieces, separately. If you see the scope being advertised as "body only", you don't get an eyepiece. If you do need eye relief, the fixed power, wide-angle Filedscope eyepieces are a great option.

Thanks for the reply. I do not wear glasses, do you think I would have issues with the eye relief? If that is going to be a problem I may look into another scope. Also, the one I am looking at does only have the 20-45x eyepiece. I also noticed some of the specs between the two are different such as the FOV and real and apparent fields of view. Is this just a mistake or is there a slight optical difference between the two scopes?
When looking at these eypieces, is there a difference between the 7466 and the MC or MCII? I though it might be wether it was ED or not but on the opticsplanet page for the Nikon ED 50, it says that it comes with the 7466 eyepiece. Is this correct? Thanks!
