kowa question

Postby ike on Wed Mar 29, 2006 8:55 pm

I have been reading all over your site. It is terrific.

I was thinking about the Bushnell Elite http://www.opticsplanet.com/628045.html

But then started looking at the Kowa http://www.opticsplanet.com/kowa-82-hig ... copes.html with the zoom eye piece.

How big a differnce is there in the Kowa between the normal lense model and the one with PROMINAR ED Fluorite lens. What is the differnce?

Btw Kowa and Bushnell what are your recomendations.

Hi

Thank-you.

The difference between the Kowa standard and fluorite is a matter of resolution, mostly at magnifications above 40x. In other words, the fluorite will have an edge in image quality at higher magnifications.

For your application - viewing scenery from your office - the standard version will work just fine. I typically recommend fluorite for the most demanding applications such as extreme birding or hunting or for optics addicts like myself who go weak in the knees when looking through a great scope.

Hi

Personally, I think the Kowa is a better scope. It's worth it just for the new Kowa zoom eyepiece which is exceptional.
