need some advice

Postby nburrus on Sat Nov 05, 2011 12:45 pm

Im looking to buy a new spotting scope for deer and elk hunting. Iknow that in my price range you cant have every thing so I need a little help. I need to stay under $600 as far under as possible. Because of packing Im more interested in the 15x45s From what Ive looked at (only on paper) Ive never looked thru any of them, Im leaning towards the viper or the vortex[/link] viper HD. Will the HD gather a $100 more light in low light conditions? Also please if you have any better suggestions or advice let me know. thanks for your time Norm

Hi

The Vortex is certainly a good choice in a packable scope, as good as anything in its size and price range. The HD gets you better resolution via better color correction and also a touch more contrast, but will not be brighter in low light than a non HD scope. In other words, HD will reveal just a touch more detail at 45x, but don't expect any gains in brightness.

Other good choices, here, include the Brunton Eterna 62, the Nikon Prostaff 16-48x64, but you won't go wrong with the Vortex.
