i purchased (shipment came in yesterday) a celestron ultima 65, and just ordered a barska digiscope adapter, now that i know my canon a610 works well via the scopes eyepiece. this question pertaines to the "aluminum adapter?" that came with the scope. there is no obvious area on the zoom lens for either the male or female threads to fit. what is this ring for? and can any "fixed" eyepiece be adapted to use with this scope in place of the zoom lens? thanks, dan.

Not sure why Celestron has packed that extra ring, though I suspect it is for an accessory yet to be released. At this point, no other eyepieces are offered for this scope.
