Spotting Scope for Paper Range Targets - 200 yds

Postby dfmrico on Fri Apr 07, 2006 7:56 pm

Im looking for a spotting scope able to spot 1/4" holes in paper targets up to 200 yards. Both the Celestron Ultima 80 and the Bushnell Trophy 20-60x65 seem to be close in performance.

Which would you recommend? Are 1/4" holes at 200 yds realistic for these spotting scopes or should I move up in price. Any other recommendations?

Great website! Thanks in advance.

Hi

These two are a close match in terms of performance.

200 yards would be the limit on these two for that kind of work and you'll need ideal conditions. I'd suggest a better scope such as the Bushnell Elite 20-60x80, http://www.opticsplanet.com/620080.html if you are looking for a little insurance here.
