Air travel with scope & tripod

Postby Scoter! on Tue Mar 27, 2012 2:41 pm

Hello,

Hope this is not too far off-topic.

I will be travelling by air and would like to take a scope and tripod with me, but am rather hesitant. Instead of taking my 85 mm scope with my full-sized tripod, I am considering taking my 60 mm scope with a smaller tripod. What is the minimum size worthwhile tripod one could use on a 60 mm scope (Spacemaster)?

Any other advice re travelling by air with a tripod and scope would also be appreciated.

Hi

The good news, here, is that just about any tripod you choose will be heavy enough to stabilize a 60mm spotting scope. The Bushnell Advanced Titanium, for instance, would be more than up to the task, if you are looking for a full size tripod, but one that is lightweight, though well made.
