Bushnell Legend Ultra vs Leupold SX-1 Ventana

My head is spinning with all of the spotting scopes and the reviews!

I am interested in using it to see .223 holes up to 200 yds but would also like to use it for 15-20 yds for pistol shooting....is that possible with one scope?

If not, the preference would be for the long gun targets.

I kinda narrowed it down to the Leupold 15-45x60mm SX-1 Ventana against the Bushnell 15-45x60mm Legend Ultra HD Spotting Scope. At first I was looking at the same brand/models with the larger objectives but they are way too big.

Any recommendations between the two?

The Bushnell Ultra HD offers a slightly better picture than the Leupold SX-1 Ventana, but it's a bit more money. For your purposes you will be well served with both, assuming colored targets. Black bullet holes in black bullseyes are asking too much, in most cases. The close focuses on both will easily let you see at 20 yards and closer.

Sorry Steve--What about the Nikon Prostaff 5 16-48x60 against the Bushnell Legend Ultra HD?

I own the previous version of the Nikon Prostaff 16-48 and I love it. I have not babied it and the optical quality is very good. But for your stated purposes you won't get much better performance from the Nikon than the Bushnell, and it's another hundred bucks. I love Nikon products, but consider spending the money on ammo. The Bushnell is a mighty fine spotter for the money that will do what you want it to do.
