what's the difference between williams p/n 70231 and 70232?

i know it says rear sight length less (or greater) than 1" long but is there a difference by buck mark year, model or something else??

Yes, there was a change made to the sights on the Browning Buckmark. Product code 70231 is for the newer Buckmark sight that is just over 1'' in length.

Ok but when is the year difference? What is new?

I don't know when the sight changed, but the new models have a rear sight length of over 1''. The older models have a rear sight length of under 1''.

Actually, the old models (pre-1992) use the under 1" sight and current guns use the longer (over 1")"Pro Target" sight:

There are some pre-1992 Buckmarks that use an "L" shaped, stamped steel, rear sight that is riveted to the slide. There are no aftermarket sights for this model. Any upgrade to these would require replacement of the sight base.
