Many items are drop shipped directly from the manufacturer. In most cases this is a quicker way to deliver an item. If the manufacturer has a supply issue this can lead to unfortunate delays, though.

Happens a lot  I've had 3 out of 5 items backordered from you guys. No worries though.

Any idea when MTM AC11's are gonna be shipping? MTM seems to have issues keeping these in stock anywhere.

Postby three to four weeks on Mon Mar 09, 2009 9:20 pm

yep i ordered a bushnell trophy red dot (1x25..the 138 dollar one) for plinking and i get a email its going to take three to FOUR weeks for my order to be filled...i guess if i ordered a aimpoint t-1 they would have it here in a day (at roughly 5 times the price). The massive run around is getting old fast.

Dont count on the 3 to 4 weeks they told me that and its been 8. Every time i ask about it they say, "it is expected in by the end of the week." :x

Same types of problems here.

At first, never received a confirmation email concerning the order. Four days later sent an email explaining the situation w/ order number, name, etc. and NEVER received an e-reply. A week after that, I called and found out the telephonic sales rep did not enter my email address correctly. After the telephonic conversation, I finally received my "status" on the order in an email. However, my email sent directly from this site (in which received a copy of the email in an auto-reply) should have provided a response to my request and still have not received one.

Also, one item says, "shipped" and was actually charged against my credit card but was NEVER shipped. (Explained that the item was placed on "hold" in order to be shipped whenever my main product is finally shipped.) I wonder if the "out-of-door-in-24" applies? Technically, I never received the product - e.g. the eyepieces w/n 24 hours as advertised.

I really like Optics Planet and some of the excellent customer service, but it appears some people as myself are falling through the cracks w/ feelings of being "mislead" as discussed by others, and causing frustration among consumers. I hope it is fixed soon. If it were NOT for Joanie_K - site admin - and the technical assistance she provided me, I would have canceled my order on the principle of the matter.

However in order to be fair (and not to say I have never made mistakes in my professional career), the sales reps were professional and provided an explanation of the situation and Joanie_K has always been helpful in the forum. I am just frustrated because my home address was NOT entered properly (but by default, it would have it made here), my email address was not entered properly, never received a response to my email, and feelings of being mislead - items charged but not sent, it will be two weeks, than three weeks, etc.

At least when my 10-inch telescope finally gets here along w/ the eyepieces, I will actually enjoy it more since the 60mm for the past month has made me appreciate the finer aspects. For the first time in my life, I saw the rings of Saturn this week and can NOT wait to see it w/ a 10-inch telescope.

I'm a new customer and at first was happy with the site but after having to wait and wait and wait for orders and having to return 2 items because the site didn't have adequate info to make an informed decision on a size I sadly have to say I won't be shopping here anymore.

The hassle just isn't worth saving a few bucks.....

After many weeks, my order didn't arrive. I purchased item elsewhere after waiting. Optics Planet was, however, very professional and made it simple for me to cancel my order.

They should let you know that when you order. Either you have it or you don't. I won't order again.

I have learned to use Optics Planet website just for the product numbers of items I like, then I just Google and find the products somewhere else.

Optics Planet does what I call a "Bait and Wait". It's a shame cause their website is organized very nice. I have a feeling if they showed what they actually had in stock, they would get far less orders :( .

It wouldn't be a problem if the items were listed as backordered or direct ship from the manufacturer. It's bad business, misleading and pretty scummy to wait for someone to order something, then send them an e-mail (as per my current situation) telling a bold faced LIE. (I.E. "We just sold out of that item, and expect it back in 7-10 business days.")

On top of it all, I suspect that the third item I ordered won't be shipped until the other two are available. I'm going to give them three business days to respond to my e-mail, at which point in time I will probably call in anyway. If I don't get the answers I want, it'll be elsewhere with my business, and some healthy spreading of the word to the forums I frequent. (All gun sites, smallest is around 25K members, IIRC.)

I don't mind delays and I understand that accidents happen, but downright deception (especially when it's so obvious) isn't worth the scrap of money saved, nor is an excessive wait when speedy service is promised. Hope others find/read this forum before making purchases-- you order at your own risk.

This quote has NOT been addressed and should be. I took particular care to ensure that I was ordering the 788 spotting scope and cover, and NOT the 788KIT which dealers attempt to push. Once my order was taken I received the "5-10 business days" message which has blown out to "3-4 weeks" but again the push to take the 788KIT, which I have explained I do NOT want. Does Optics really stock these "popular" items or do they use them as bait?
