First Order and Disappointment

I just made my first and probably last order from Optics Planet. I guess I have been spoiled by doing business with companies like Midway USA who actually ship orders in a timely manner. I am leaving in one week for a deer hunt. Ordered a Leica CRF 1200 and some other small items yesterday (Thursday). Free shipping. GREAT!!! However, I'm leaving in a week so I spend the extra $15 for express 3 day shipping. Get the order confirmation email right away. GREAT! I wait and I wait and no shipping confirmation. I call customer service today and find out that my order won't be shipped until today, 36 hours after the order was placed, and then if there are no problems with UPS I will get my order Wednesday. One day short of a week later. And, less than 24 hours before I leave on my trip. If I had ordered from Midway USA I would as in the past with all my orders, it would have shipped same day and I usually get my orders with standard shipping the next day or 2nd day. Midway obviously is more customer focused. And so, in the future, when I need something to actually be to me in the 3 day time frame that I pay for, I'll be ordering from Midway USA or one of the other online stores that I have had good service from.

Sorry to hear of your poor first experience ordering from us. Normally items are shipped the same day, but some items are not always available. The excellent Leica 1200 has been a hard one to get this year, and many other retailers have been a bit Leica-poor this year besides us. Regardless, thank you for your order and we look forward to another chance. Sorry again that your first experience with us wan't what you should've gotten.

Thank you for answering. If it weren't for the fact that I am leaving town in two days for a hunt, it wouldn't have been a big deal. I realize that things don't always happen exactly as they should. Hopefully I will get my order tomorrow and all will be well.
