Optics Planet Not Accepting Legitimate Return

Postby RandyJones on Thu Feb 28, 2013 10:50 am

I purchased a Blackhawk bag from OpticsPlanet.com, and when I opened the box, I determined it was too small for my needs, so I immediately followed the required return procedure, put it back in the box, sealed it and shipped it back to OpticsPlanet.com.
Many days later I received an automated email message stating it had been returned. A week and a half later, I received another automated email message from OpticsPlanet.com stating that:

Unfortunately, we cannot process the return due to the reason(s) listed below:
==================================================================
Blackhawk Pro Training Bag Black 20SP00BK $70.99
Item(s) appears to be used
Item(s) appears to be tested
==================================================================
Since we are unable to process your return, we would like to return your item(s) back to you. Please contact us to arrange the payment for your return shipping. If we do not hear back from you within the next 7 days, we will assume that you are no longer interested in receiving your merchandise back and will dispose of it without initiating credit.

I immediately responded to the email disagreeing with their automated response, stating that the bag had only been out of the shipping box for possibly 5 minutes before it was put back in the same box and sealed.

I received another system generated email response stating:

We have received your email and will reply to your request within 24 to 48 hours, or less.

After 6 days without a response, I called OpticsPlanet.com Customer Service and after describing the situation, the representative said his supervisor would be in contact with me within 24 hours, maximum.

I never heard back from the supervisor or the representative.

Today, 1 week later I received another system generated email stating:

Unfortunately, we cannot process the return due to the reason(s) listed below:
==================================================================
Blackhawk Pro Training Bag Black 20SP00BK $70.99
Item(s) appears to be used
Item(s) appears to be tested
==================================================================
Since we are unable to process your return, we would like to return your item(s) back to you. Please contact us to arrange the payment for your return shipping. If we do not hear back from you within the next 7 days, we will assume that you are no longer interested in receiving your merchandise back and will dispose of it without initiating credit.

Déjà vu. I once again called OpticsPlanet.com Customer Service, and after much discussion and being placed on numerous, lengthy holds, and after asking for and then demanding proof, I was told that the Returns Department would email me a picture of the bag within the day.

I have purchased many things from OpticsPlanet.com through Amazon.com. This was the first time I have purchased anything directly from them. This is also the last time I will purchase anything from them directly or indirectly.

OpticsPlanet.com is not dealing with my return in a fair and equitable manner.

Hi Randy,

I apologize for the returns team not getting back to you with the picture as requested. I have spoke to a manager who will make sure it gets done as soon as possible. Just so you know - your return was reinspected after your call, and still determined to not be valid under our return policy due to the product being used.

I also see that while we cannot accept your return, we agreed to cover shipping the item back to you.

I'm sorry this purchase did not work out for you.

The item was never used! It was out of the box you shipped it in for less than 5 minutes! It is ludicrous to think that something happened to it during that time.

If there is anything wrong with the item, it has occurred since you received the return over 2 weeks ago. Where has it been all of this time? under what conditions has it been kept?

OpticsPlanet.com has yet to meet any of its promised timelines and continues to drag this situation out. I want the purchase price refunded immediately. I do not want to hear any more excuses from OpticsPlanet.com.

OpticsPlanet.com Response:

Attached you should see the file with a picture of the BLACKHAWK bag that contains hair on the outside of the bag
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at this email.

So your reason for not refunding my purchase price has now changed from your original allegations:

Unfortunately, we cannot process the return due to the reason(s) listed below:
==================================================================
Blackhawk Pro Training Bag Black 20SP00BK $70.99
Item(s) appears to be used
Item(s) appears to be tested

==================================================================

The item clearly not used or tested. Whatever hair, lint, dust, etc., that is on the bag occurred after I shipped it to you; whether is was inside the shipping box, or inside your facility, it was not on the bag when I shipped it. It appears that whatever is on the bac could easily be romoved with a lint roller, brush or vacuum.

I expect my purchase price to be refunded.

To be fair [link=http://www.opticsplanet.com]Optics[/link] Planet must have known that they were running into trouble with this transaction, the guys name "Randy Jones" gives him away as a trouble maker.
The fact that "Randy Jones" left some pubes on the bag, prior to returning it, suggests a sloppy attention to detail.
My guess is that "Randy Jones" is soaking wet, wears grey shoes and probably has a beard. (Probably in a government job too)

Fair call from [link=http://www.opticsplanet.com]Optics[/link] Planet in this case. I would however suggest that they not accept any further orders from anyone named Randy. Simply on principle.
