Serengeti Prescription - Glass or Polycarbonate?

Postby PJ on Mon Jan 26, 2009 5:20 pm

Can you tell me if the Serengeti prescription Drivers lenses are plastic/polycarbonate or "glass" in the style of serengeti aviator or serengeti velocity?

Serengeti prescription Drivers lenses are made from the same material as non-Rx Serengeti Drivers are made of, which is photochromic glass.

Serengeti also makes polycarbonate lenses. They are called Polarmax. For now, only Polarmax Drivers are available in prescription form. All other Serengeti authentic prescription lenses are glass.

Serengeti prescription polarized sunglasses

Postby owlet12 on Fri Jan 30, 2009 2:26 pm

Hi, I'm also interested in Serengeti prescription glasses. I'm boating a lot and they recommend polarized lenses around the water. I have Serengeti sunglasses with polarized brown lenses (i think they are called Drivers .. ?). Can I get the same polarized brown lenses in Rx?

The lenses you are looking for are called Drivers Polarized. Serengeti offers them in prescription form as well.

Every Serengeti model from our Serengeti Prescription sunglasses store can be ordered with authentic Serengeti polarized prescription lenses. They cost little bit more than the generic Rx lenses that we can make in our lab. But you will get Serengeti famous cornea photochromic glass with blue-blocker and AR coatings included and the lenses will be identical to the ones you have in your non-prescription Serengeti. If the authenticity of Serengeti Rx lenses is not the main reason why you buy Serengeti prescription glasses, you just like the frames and want to switch to a more cost-effective lens material like plastic or polycarbonate, give us a call at 800-504-5897 and we will build a new quote for you.

serengeti prescription sunglasses

Postby LA Guy on Fri Feb 13, 2009 3:49 pm

I like Serengeti frames, but $200 for a pair of prescription sunglasses is over my budget. I understand that you offer original Serengeti prescription lenses that are glass, photochromic, etc. What I'm looking for is the cheapest tinted prescription lenses in Serengeti frames. Nothing fancy. Will you be able to sell me the frames with cheaper lenses?

We offer Serengeti authentic prescription lenses, we also offer generic Rx lenses on-line. We can send one of Serengeti frames to our lab and they will make Rx lenses for you from the lens material you choose. If you are looking for the cheapest colored lenses, I would recommend CR-39 non-polarized tinted lens. It will cost you much cheaper than the authentic Serengeti prescription lenses. Please contact our customer service to get a quote. Serengeti prescription sunglasses with authentic Serenegti Rx lenses.
