Wayfarer Ray Ban Question

Postby Denis Y. on Mon Mar 09, 2009 9:47 pm

Hello, I'm looking for a Ray Ban Wayfarer and I really like how looks
this specific model.

1. Do you know the model and size? (I think RB2140 47mm... looks small)

2. I read a post where the RB2132 52mm is considered smaller than RB2140 50mm. So, when it is compared to the RB2140 47mm, is the RB2132 52mm still smaller?

These are definitely Ray Ban Wayfarer glasses. You can even see the Ray-Ban logo on one of the lens.

It could be both Ray Ban 2140 and Ray Ban 2132. I think RB 2132 is closer. RB 2140 lenses are almost square, unlike the ones in RB 2132 model. They are shaped more rectangular.

The smallest Wayfarer RB 2140 comes in 50 mm lens size, 47 mm lens is not available for this model. Wayfarer 2132 in 52 mm size is smaller than Wayfarer 2140 in 50 mm size (the frame geometry is slightly different and it compensates the size).

but i have the same question as the OP. Is the 2132 in 52mm smaller than the 47mm in the 2140?

Sadly Ray-Ban just confirmed that the 47mm is no longer in production in the RB2140. So if you see it out there buy it. The 47mm RB2140 had a bridge of 22mm. This translates to 47+47+22=116mm. The RB2132 in size 52mm has an 18mm bridge. That means in theory is 122mm across the face.

So the 52mm is larger!
