Optics Planet vs. Lenscrafters question?

Postby danc on Sun May 02, 2010 6:55 pm

Liz-

In the past i have always bought prescription sunglasses from Lenscrafters however they dont have much to choose from and 99% of the sunglasses they offer can only be bought in Non-Rx. They always tell me the the glasses are not available in RX, however im seeing the same sunglasses on this site in RX that are are available. In particular, Lenscrafters has the same D&G sunglasses but they told me they arent available in RX but they are showing up on this site as available. Can you explain before i order? I dont think my prescription is that bad either.

Best Regards,

Dan

Hi Dan,

Thank you for your question. There are some frames that are on the edge of RXability. They are called "limited RX". Some companies do not prescriptionize these frames at all. Others offer them with prescription lenses. The lab that fulfills our orders for D&G prescription sunglasses has been working with Luxottica frames for a long time. It gave us "green light" on some of the frames that are considered hard to RX. It mostly depends on prescription and pupil distance. We always review RX for those frames before proceeding with the order. Please let me know which frame in particular you are looking at and what your RX is, and I will try to give you a recommendation.
