Ray Ban RB5184 vs RX5184

Postby ericlegros on Mon Jun 13, 2011 3:33 pm

I'm researching the type of glasses that I want to buy, and I have a question.

What is the difference between Ray Ban glasses labeled RB5184 and RX5184. I've heard from a friend that RB is for sunglasses and RX is for prescription. I have also heard that RX has a spring hinge on the arms and RB doesn't. However, this is from non-professionals.

I hope someone from Optics Planet will be able to answer my question and help me buy the right kind of glasses.

Thank you for contacting us. I will be happy to clarify the RB vs the RX.

RB is the portion of the Ray-Ban model number that serves as an indication that they are Sunglasses and the RX denotes that the frame is from their Eyeglasses line.

The friend that told you this was correct! 8)
