Prescription sunglasses order options

Hi there,

I have ordered prescription sunglasses on your site, choosing polarized gray (1.6 index) lenses with UV, anti-scratch, and anti-glare coatings. Even though I tried to understand everything in advance I still have some question, which I should probably ask before I made the order, but I believe it is still better to ask now than never ...

1) You offer UV coating (4 USD) and anti-scratch (4 USD) options, both are recommended for CR-39 material. Does it mean, it is not necessary or even not suitable for others? I opted for both, but now I am not sure anymore I should.

2) I understood that for lenses with high curvature/length there are certain limits in diopters, which the lenses can accommodate (to allow good vision). I wonder if the limit can be improved by using higher index material, or if it just improves the thickness, but optical properties remain the same.

3) I read about "digital surfacing" technology and understood that it might actually apply to this case (highly curved long lenses for sunglasses). Would you recommend that, and do you do it?

Thank you for the post. Those are great questions.

CR-39 does not offer any scratch resistance and has no UV protection. Adding those two coatings is a great idea. Higher scripts such as yours can be thick, so High Index materials will give you a thinner appearance to your lenses. The higher the index the thinner the lenses and the optical quality will be the exact same. Digital surfacing allows a unique lens to be produced for each individual. Patients can now enjoy the advantages offered by lenses entirely adapted to their individual visual needs, which also take into account the frame and the purpose for which they will use them. thanks a lot for the response and active approach. I have settled the order with your customer service over the phone, finally opting for digital surfacing for additional cost. The one question, more out of curiosity, remained though - what kind of technology/material do you use for digital surfacing?

And on the side note: My order status says "Shipped", which I believe is not the case, but maybe I just interpret it wrong...

Thank you for your patience. The current shipping status refers to the frames and prescription order being processed and forwarded to the lab. The lab is expecting your order to be finished in one more week and a half.

The lab can digitally surface any lens material. In your order we are using High Index 1.60. I think you will be very pleased with the results.
