Online or Store?

Postby Guest on Mon May 29, 2006 10:06 pm

I am just interested to know what peoples thoughts are about buying Reading Glasses and Prescription Glasses online vs store. From what I have read so far on this forum, people would prefer to visit a store when buying prescription glasses, mainly because you need to try them on and test them out etc before purchasing. But what about Reading glasses, are these easier to buy online? You just need to know what strength you use right?

Can you all give me your top ten likes/dislikes about buying glasses online. (Reading, Prescription, Sunglasses).

Thanks

Hi

we don't sell reading glasses, so, yes, it is mostly a matter of knowing the strength (diopter) you need.

The primary advantage of shopping for sunglasses online is that you have just about any make and model at your fingertips and can see what is out there. Prices are also better online. Many of our customers check locally for fit, then buy from us.

Agree with admin, store online is better, because it has advantage of price and variety, which let you have great choice range for sunglasses. Mention that someone want to try, they can do it at stores around.
good luck!

On-line you definitely have a wider choice of sunglasses, eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses.

If you are looking for reading glasses with premanufactured lenses, you just need to know the magnification. You can also order any eyeglass frame with custom reading lenses. Then you will need to privide us with the magnification and pupil distance.

Online will be a good choice

Try online. Now no matter where the US online store is registered, they alll make eyeglasses in China, that is why online stores can sell cheap but still acceptable quality.

prescription eyeglasses

Patrick, you are talking about on-line stores that advertise “buy a pair of $30 glasses, get one free”. Well, you get for you are paying for. Cheap glasses frames made in China and Rx lenses made … I do not even know where (but I know how much it costs to make a quality prescription lens, even from the cheapest CR-39, and it does not fit "$30 for 2 pairs of glasses" pricing…).

We specialize only in high quality brand-name eyeglasses. Ray Ban eyeglasses, Brooks Brothers eyeglasses, D&G eyeglasses, Vogue eyeglasses, etc.. They don't cost $30 of course, but our prices are much more compatible and affordable than the prices your local optical store can offer. Basically you get the same brand-name eyeglass frames and quality lenses at a better price than you can get from a walk-in store.

I'm all for ordering prescription eyeglasses on-line. Prescription sunglasses and eyeglasses sold on-line are prepared using the same methods, technology and frame suppliers as those employed street optical stores and opticians' offices. The only thing that is different is that you pay a lot less for the same prescription glasses. On-line labs can actually afford using the latest machines as they have larger turnaround and their sales are much higher.
