I tried using a spotting scope on my 1st elk hunt and scouting trips last season. Picking up a target from mountain-mountain is awful at best.
I am now shopping for a good scope of my own. Many of the ones I am leaning to do not say anything about sights.
Two questions:
1. Is there an aftermarket sight that can be added to spotting scopes?
2. Would you have a recommendation for a scope under 36 ozs, water/fog proof, good optics of course, in the $300-500 range?

Hi

Picking up targets in a spotting scope does take practice. This is where a zoom model helps. Always start at low power - which offers a wide field of view - then zoom up as much as you need to do the job.

Many spotting scopes have crude sighting devices on the body, but I don't know of any after-market add-on finder designed to fit spotting scopes.
