Streamlight TLR-1 Flashlight
I have been looking at buying a Streamlight TLR-1 flashlight for a couple of weeks now. What is the difference between the TLR-1 and the Streamlight M3 and M3X? The TLR carries a lifetime warranty and costs much less than the M3 light.

Hi,
The M series lights are on their way out, being replaced immediately by the TLR series.
The M3X is tougher than the "M3, having a "shock supression system", as well as being water and airtight and submersible to 66 feet for two hours. The M series lights require installation from the front to the back, often putting your hand in front of the muzzle of your gun. The lamp and bezel is not warranteed in the M series. The M3X requires a "long gun backplate" to mount a pressure switch, as well as the switch. Both are expensive.
Like you said, the TRL series has a lifetime warranty, and mounts by clipping on from underneath, with your hand clear from the muzzle.

TLR-1 is better
I compared the Streamlight TLR, M3X and Surefire X200 side by side by side. The TLR seemed brightest and the price is much better.
