Stable tripod for guiding in rugged terrain.

I would like your opinion on a full size tripod to use for a Leupold HD spotting scope in eastern Wyoming's Black Hills. I would prefer it to be as light and portable as possible. I have Leupold's light weight tripod and it works great but would like a full size tripod to use close to the main camp. I would prefer the least expensive. A TALL ORDER! THANKS!!

Hi

Can't have it both ways, of course. For a small scope, if you can live without a fluid head, the Nikon 848 is a rugged and durable choice and is about as light as it gets in a full size, all metal tripod. Weight is 5 pounds, 50" max leg height, 63" with center column extended and 22" closed
